Who Is Coach Jacqueline?

Coach Jacqueline Lee, widely known as Coach J, is more than a pastor—she is a mentor, theologian, and empowerment coach who blends faith-based principles with scientific and evidence-based practices. Her unique approach helps women heal both spiritually and mentally.

Raised in Oakland, California, Coach J grew up in a Christian household. Despite a sheltered upbringing, her journey took a painful turn when she experienced assault, toxic relationships, and life-threatening trauma during her early college years.

Her story is not just one of survival—it’s one of transformation.

At a young age, Coach J found herself in a dangerous and controlling relationship that introduced her to substance abuse and emotional manipulation. What began as affection quickly turned into isolation and control.

Eventually, a life-threatening incident left her paralyzed and unable to speak or move.

“I was left to die… and that’s when my journey of discovering who I truly am began.”

That moment became the turning point—what she now calls her “pain to purpose” journey. See Full Interview Video

What Does a Toxic Relationship Look Like?

Coach J breaks down the reality of dysfunctional relationships, making it easier for women to identify red flags early:

Common Signs of a Toxic Relationship:

  • Love bombing followed by control
  • Isolation from friends and family
  • Constant criticism or belittling
  • Controlling decisions (where to go, what to do)
  • Disrespecting personal boundaries
  • Monitoring phones or excessive texting
  • Pressuring you into things that go against your values

“Little by little, I lost myself trying to please someone else.”

How Toxic Relationships Affect Self-Worth

One of the most damaging effects of toxic relationships is the loss of identity and confidence.

Coach J describes the aftermath as:

  • Feeling broken and lost
  • Losing your sense of self
  • Believing you are not worthy
  • Giving more than you receive

“Don’t ever give more to someone else than you give to yourself.”

Healing begins with one essential truth:
You must love yourself first.

The Importance of Boundaries and Discipline are not restrictions—they are self-respect in action. Coach J defines boundaries simply: What you say yes to What you say no to

Boundaries matter because they protect your peace, define your values, and help you maintain healthy relationships. Setting clear boundaries prevents manipulation by teaching others how you expect to be treated while also strengthening your self-worth and confidence. When you establish limits, you create space for respect, personal growth, and emotional balance, allowing you to prioritize your well-being without guilt or compromise.

Discipline, on the other hand, is about consistent behavior that aligns with your goals and purpose.

“Everything you need—peace, purpose, fulfillment—is already within you.”

Advice for Women Who Feel Stuck or Afraid

Leaving a toxic or abusive relationship isn’t always easy—especially when fear is involved.

Coach J offers practical and life-saving advice:

Steps to Safely Exit a Toxic Relationship:

  • Trust your gut instinct
  • Confide in someone you trust
  • Contact a support line or professional
  • Make a quiet, strategic exit plan
  • Avoid alerting the abuser
  • Seek a safe place immediately

“Ease your way out of the lion’s den.”

After leaving her toxic relationship, Coach J began a powerful journey of self-discovery and healing through meditation, prayer, faith, spiritual connection, inner reflection, coaching, and mentorship. She believes that true healing starts within and requires the courage to confront pain instead of avoiding it. Through her experience, she now encourages others to recognize their worth and understand that their past does not define their future. Her message is simple yet powerful: “You are more than what you’ve been through.”
