Jeff Maurer is the nominated Libertarian candidate for Indiana Secretary of State (SOS). Maurer is a “Hoosier by choice.”
He was born in New York City and moved to Indiana in 2013. He said, “I chose to move to Indiana for a better life and get away from the corrupt politics and big government.”
Before running for Secretary of State, Maurer served on his local volunteer fire department, served on his homeowners association board, served on the Carmel Economic Development Commission, as a development officer for Students For Liberty, and the Home Place Advisory Board.
Maurer is currently serving in the Air National Guard, as well. He is an entrepreneur with a background in technology and finance.
Maurer decided to run for Secretary of State due to his frustration with what he saw as a lack of transparency in the government.
He said, “The government should answer to the people. I am frustrated that the government will not respond or be open.”
Maurer wants to create a system that allows voters to track their vote. He said, “You could track your vote like an Amazon package.”
Indiana voters would be able to verify that their vote was received, counted, and audited.
“I want to build a system of trust that allows communication and transparency,” said Maurer.
He also wants to implement a “true comprehensive audit” of the votes as well. Currently, only five of the 92 counties in Indiana get audited; Maurer wants to audit all 92 counties.
He said, “If we count our votes like we count our cash, we would have the election we deserve.”
Maurer wants to help small businesses thrive as Secretary of State, and fight inflation at the same time.
“This is the part that gets me particularly excited,” he said. “I’m a small business owner and have seen this first hand. I want to lead and create an environment that is welcoming and fertile for entrepreneurs, so they can create homegrown Hoosier businesses. The government doesn’t create jobs, our Hoosier neighbors do.”
He wants to designate an account representative to every new business. He said, “Every business would have their person that they can go to for help. This is about growing something from the ground up with our own people and our own soil.”
Maurer states that the state can fight inflation with small businesses and productivity gains at the state level.
He said, “We need to innovate with innovators and help entrepreneurs with ideas to enjoy a better quality of life. We will fight inflation with small innovations.”
Maurer also wants to help Auto dealerships serve their customers to their best ability.
“How can these auto dealers focus their time and resources to help their customers effectively?” he asked.
Maurer plans to crack down on white collar crimes in the Security Division. He said, “These sophisticated crimes and ‘Ponzi Schemes’ can destroy peoples’ entire lives and savings. Those who are most vulnerable are being targeted for these crimes, so I want to be a bit more aggressive with that.”
Maurer said, “I have gotten to see Henry County quite a bit. I will give the power back to the people of Henry County. As a Libertarian I feel as if we the people have the power and it’s about changing the culture and perspective. Someone will always be there to tell you “no”, you have to find someone to tell you “yes”, and that’s who I am going to be. I am the only candidate on the ballot that wants to give you a receipt for your vote. Let’s bring common sense solutions to our elections today for a better tomorrow.”
